Vlisco has been creating unique textiles, in Holland, that have
influenced the fashion landscape in West and Central Africa. These
textiles were
originally known as ‘Hollandais’, from the French word for ‘Dutch’.
I am totally enthralled to see such shear beauty in design and pattern. The process of dyeing is similar to batik. To produce this material a wax-resistant dyeing technique is used. A
design is drawn onto the material with hot wax after which it is dipped
in the dye. The dye does not penetrate the wax.
An additional benefit to the material prepared this way is that the
pattern is printed on both sides of the material making it more
versatile.
Isnt the fabric just stunning!I also love the styling in this series....Tell us what you think??
